Hey, Need A boat?!

There's a great story in today's Detroit Free Press about a college sailor from Wisconsin that stepped up to support a competitor from Michigan State during the Midwest Qualifiers. The short version is that when Lauren Knoles' (Michigan State) mast broke, possibly ruining her quest for a national championship, her nearest competitor put out a call (literally yelled) for someone to loan her rival a boat.

Megan Six, another competitor from Wisconsin did just that! She sailed over and they exchanged boats on the water. Lauren received a DNF from the race for switching boats, but sailed on through the rest of the regatta in Megan's boat to catch a 2nd place in the event. She also qualified for the national championship.

Totally awesome. What a show of sportsmanship and spirit. Megan, you are a true role model. I'm going to share this story with my kids.

Acts like this give new meaning to the words "a gentleman's sport"!
