Images That Capture Why We Love To Sail

Submitted To SailFast by Jacqueline Schmitz

1. This one is of Laser sailor Charlie Buckingham warming up before a race at the Orange Bowl Regatta in Miami in 2006. I included this one because I love the amount of focus, physical fitness, and precision that boat racing inspires.

2. I included this shot of part of the rig on a superyacht I had the privilege of racing/sailing on in Spain in 2007 because I love how, if you're lucky, you might get to see some amazing boats and cool places through sailing.

3. I included this shot of Andrew Campbell training for his Laser Olympic Trials in Newport, RI in 2007 because I love that when you have a sailing goal in mind, it is always worth being on the water, no matter the weather, waves, spray, or the water/air temperature.

4. This is actually a picture that a friend took of some of the crowd next to us in Qingdao as all of us USA fans watched Anna Tunnicliffe's medal race together in 2008. I included this one because what I love most about sailing are people I have met and the friendships I have made because of it.
