SailFlow was off their game! Yahoo!

The breeze filled in nicely! It was a lovely, even more lovely day than yesterday...though the weather has hinted to a change.

We headed straight to the circle with J/80s, Shields and J/24s:

There was plenty of pretty pictures to be had on that circle! However, the circle which called to me was the PHRF group the Expressly For Fun sailors were hanging out at. When you are learning to race on a Morris 36, one has to be having a good time!

I truly enjoying Ken's coaching of the EFF sailors, awesome! We had him on the press boat's radio and listening as he coached/mentored each in their decision making from start to finish. If every regatta had the means to have such a division, a positive voice to guide them and help them build confidence in their boat handling and tactical abilities. Would like to believe those same sailors would gradually move to the more intermediate classes and racing circles with continued positive experience.

Ken has nothing but reassuring and positive feedback and mindful suggestions, we've been listening in to everything even after we left to scope out another circle. He even let them know he enjoyed watching them sail! Who says sailing isn't fun to watch!!

We swung thru the 420s before heading in, the weather has turned to various shades of gray with the look and feel of rain. Now, if it cools things off, this could be a good thing!

Thank you for reading...added another 618 photos to the 500+ from yesterday...how the heck do the pros manage this?!?! Check back later this evening!

Cheers!

Slow start...postponement (for green and blue)

So today I am hoping SailFlow is off it's game, but they predicted no wind this morning and as of 0930H...no wind. Yesterday folks told me they thought it would be yucky and gusty...hmm...wishful thinking? Ha ha...well the breeze is suppose to fill in from the South in the afternoon and this evening we are expecting some possible thunderstorms.

From my experience thus far, in the end, the weather is what the weather is and nothing is going to stop the BBR participants from having fun on the water and at the party!

While we wait... I had forgotten to mention yesterday information on the circle completely devoted to those who are interested in learning more about racing: Expressly For Fun

The program is lead by the sailing community's very own rapper and premiere sailing coach Ken Legler.

Being my first time at this event, really quite impressed by it's massiveness and expansiveness. I've never been to an event where there is something for everyone - literally. The inclusion of the Expressly For Fun, PHFR, One Design, 29rs, dinghy...lovely!

It's nearly 1000H and the RC is still sitting at the dock...may or may not get a post off before leaving the dock but in the meantime will finish editing yesterday's pictures for proper posting later today.

Cheers!

Hazy, light and maybe a shift or two...

Good morning BBR followers! It's been quite warm and humid and today is already feeling no different. However, there is a light, ever so light breeze to keep one cool while they rig and prep for today's races.

The forecast is calling for 5-7 out of the North for the start of racing but according to SailFlow, looks to shift soon after and mid-day (noon-ish)...hmm the more I study the charts the more I think, "this could be an interesting day on the water!!"

As I write, a very not from the North puff blows across my cheek!

We're getting the lay of the land...will be heading out on the water with press boat by 1030H and off the water around 1500H...please check back later today for pics and tales from the water!

Cheers!
